Very rare vintage G Plan Housemster swivel chair, with teak frame and original upholstery.

The Housemaster chair was designed by K.M.Wilkins who also designed other upholstered furniture for G Plan such as the Saddle sofa suite , but the Housemaster chair must be the most stylish design to be produced. It’s nothing like anything designed by Ib Kofod Larsen, if anything its influence would seem to be Hans Brattrud’s Scandia chair of 1957!

These chairs are rare and were made in limited numbers and sold through Harrods and Heals. They were very expensive and you can see why, the quality and craftsmanship throughout is excellent. They are very comfortable to sit on and there is a rocking motion and swivel action.

Size Approx:

H to seat 36 cm.

H to top of back 84 cm.

W 92 cm.

D 94 cm.

In used condition. Structurally sound. The seat swivels well.

There are signs of wear commensurate with age, some scuffs, marks, chips and scratches to the wooden frame. The upholstery is in fair condition with some marks and a small scuff/nick to one of the armrests. The chrome is worn and shows signs of wear. One of the castors is broken and although the chair can be used as it is, it would benefit from being replaced. Please see photos, they form part of the description.
